    Mohamed Barrani Ichkal is the cousin of the guide Maoummer Gaddafi. He is the brigade commander Omar el-Megarief, he had a mission to protect and guard the gates of Tripoli.
    On August 21, 2011, he opened the doors to the battalion Abdelhakim Belhadj which allows the rapid fall of Tripoli.

    The front lines in Libya are running throughout the country, throughout regions, cities, villages, and at times throughout tribes and families, and the fighting continues. Near Tarhuna an army of former Libyan soldiers, tribal fighters as well as entire families confronted the Mizurata Brigade who was en route to attack Tarhuna. The Mizurata Brigade was repelled, leaving some light and medium range weapons behind. Some prisoners were taken.
    Fighting erupted in Tripoli when Brigades of Khalifa Hefter and the Mizurate Brigade began a duel with light and heavy automatic weapons. In another firefight the Brigades of the so called Tripoli Military Council, better known as Libyan Islamic Fighting Group or Al Qaeda came under attack by the Libyan Resistance. Abdelhakim Belhadj

    is reigning in Tripoli. Belhadj is currently the most senior and most proven Al Qaeda fighter who has murdered in theaters of operation such as Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, murdering among other US Troops. (3) In other words, Tripoli is reigned by the undisputed champion of the CIA, and he is undisputed for very good reasons. To mention but a few; the strip selling of Libyan assets, high profile companies and lucrative contracts to Israeli companies, and the military adventure against Syria. Militia from Gheriyan are reportedly joining the Libyan Resistance in substantial numbers. Anti TNC and Pro Ghadafi Demonstrations have shocked the instable government in Bengazi which made use of hard handed repression to maintain the appearance of at least some form of government.
    The strategy planners at the Pentagon, at NATO, at the Mossad, MI6 must be looking forward to well earned rewards from the Wall Street, City of London and Tel Aviv backers. The Pearl of Northern Africa is in a state where it continues self destructing with a minimum of military intervention and a minimum of handling assets. That is precisely the state of affairs that reflects the New American Century Warfare. It is the Evil, the Grotesque, and the Ugly of strategists like Brzezinski, manifest.The state of affairs awaiting any nation that fails to take part in the establishment of international solidarity to face the the beast. Face the Lion in Solidarity or be devoured One by One, and this includes Russia and China.
    Yesterday, 17 December 2011, the US Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta made his first, so called “historic” visit to Tripoli, and the setting for Panetta´s “congratulation to the Libyan People for their accomplishments and to see what the United States to help them move forward ” could not have been more Evil, more Ugly, or more Grotesque. (4) Panetta met with al-Keeb and a number of other proxy ministers. One might ask Panetta what he actually means when he wants to see what more the USA can do to help Libya along. Are 120.000 killed, cities like Tawergha ethnically cleansed and turned into incinerated ghost towns not enough. Does he want to help Libya along to more war crimes such as documented in an article by Franklin Lamb (5) and many others, and how many more should be killed, maimed, massacred and raped before he has helped enough ?

    What the Department of Defense Newsletter as well as corporate media won´t report is the fact that Panetta brought a number of spooks with him who saw Belhadj in order to plan more details of the ongoing war on Syria. Belhadj is a real beacon of democracy, freedom, justice, human rights and everything the US stands for. That is why he is now not only delivering all those wonderful advantages of the USA to the people of Libya. Belhadj is better than that. While still doing all he can to liberate Libyan women by beheading them, he is now commanding the CIA imported fighters that liberated Libya in Turkey. From Bases in Turkey those heroes are now bringing freedom, democracy, womens rights and all those wonderful advantages of the “free world” to the people of Syria.

    “I refute all reports of the reception of Aisha, the daughter of Moammar El Kadhafi.     Ten reasons why the U.S. war in Libya is a CIA operation ”
    (FinalCall.com) – The U.S.-led attack on Libya is an American operation of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), planned and initiated long before any “protests” started in Libya this February.
    Under the guise of “protecting innocent civilians,” the U.S. military, Africom, NATO, and the United Nations are now bombing Libya, raining destruction upon the Libyan economic and military infrastructure and killing untold numbers of innocent Africans. Here are just 10 of the many obvious reasons why this so-called “spontaneous” protest was from beginning to end another CIA operation.
    1. The United States’ motives are suspect. The “humanitarian” concern expressed by the American government has not taken long to evaporate. The claim that Col. Muammar Gadhafi was “slaughtering his own people” cannot be substantiated by any independent evidence, and no “journalists” are even asking for evidence. The White House’s policy advisor and Israeli lobby official Dennis Ross claimed that “up to 100,000 people could be massacred, and everyone would blame us for it.” Ross has produced no proof of a massacre—and Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Admiral Mike Mullen both confirmed, “We’ve seen no confirmation whatsoever.” Russian military has been monitoring the unrest via satellite from the very beginning, and they say that the claimed “slaughter” is imaginary.     2. The world media have shown a shocking lack of curiosity. Just as with the U.S. debacle in Iraq and Afghanistan, the New York Times leads a coordinated campaign of propaganda, rumor-mongering, and the demonization of Muammar Gadhafi. Some articles appear to be written in advance and closely follow the prescription of the Washington consulting firm Wirthlin Group, which determined that “the message most likely to motivate public support for war on Iraq was the perception of Saddam Hussein as an evil madman who even committed atrocities against his own people and had to be stopped.” The major media’s appetite for this “killing-his-own-people” line is textbook CIA propaganda and belies the fact that they are at this very hour operating from a swank hotel that is under Gadhafi’s total control in Tripoli. Even though they continue to spread unsubstantiated “rapes” and “cluster bombings,” and “fears of massacres,” and child-targeting, these “journalists” don’t appear to be frightened for their lives.     3. The “rebels” are Al-Qaeda. When Col. Gadhafi first claimed that the rebels were members of Al-Qaeda, no one believed him. But according to a 2007 report from the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point titled “Al-Qa’ida’s Foreign Fighters In Iraq,” eastern Libya—the very center of the current uprising—is a well-known Al-Qaeda stronghold. The same people the U.S. is fighting three wars to destroy are the “rebels” the U.S. is protecting, supplying, training, and attempting to install into power in Libya. And if the West Point military analysts knew this to be true in 2007, why did they not bomb those Al-Qaeda strongholds in the way they are bombing Gadhafi’s forces now? CIA √
    4. Rebel “leaders” are CIA agents. The “rebel” leader, a man named Khalifa Hifter, left the Libyan government and set up his own militia financed by the CIA. He then spent two decades living within minutes of CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, where, according to Rep. Dennis Kucinich, he had no apparent source of income. Shortly after the 2011 “protests” began, the CIA airlifted him into Benghazi and told the press to start calling him the “leader” of the rebels. CIA √
    5. The Libyan uprising is not “spontaneous.” The incident that allegedly spurred the Libyan “rebellion” was the arrest of an activist lawyer on February 15, 2011. This ignited a wave of protests that spilled over onto the
    Internet and other media. But an unusually large number of YOUTUBE videos and TWITTER messages have emerged that are suspiciously similar and seem to be a product of the Pentagon’s recently uncovered project to develop software that allows it to secretly manipulate social media sites to influence Internet conversations and spread propaganda. These suspicious “free Libya” sites all claim to be homegrown, but YOUTUBE and other social media sites cannot be accessed by Internet users in Libya. The “revolution” websites are all in English even though the language of Libya is Arabic, with English rarely spoken and only in the big cities. Despite their dubious origins, professional media groups like CNN, BBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox News, and Al Jazeera have amplified these anonymous and uncorroborated video postings as legitimate news sources.
    And some of the “spontaneous” websites are clearly fraudulent. One that calls itself “LIBYAN REVOLUTIONARY CENTRAL” (http://www.feb17.info/) was created on February 14—A DAY BEFORE the original protest. And the website is registered in Ohio as a non-profit organization with a 501c3 tax exempt ID number! CIA √
    6a. Whites are desperate for Libyan oil. America and Europe are dependent on the type of oil that is only found in Libya. It is a very high quality “sweet” oil with low sulfur content. Europe’s refineries cannot process other types of high sulfur oil, so when Gadhafi recently suggested he could find better customers for Libyan oil in India, China, and Russia, it made Europe desperate for an immediate Libyan “uprising.” CIA √
    6b. New oil infrastructure already in place. Only days after the “spontaneous” protests the “rebels,” who were mostly seen in grainy cell phone videos chanting slogans and waving banners, had organized themselves into a sophisticated corporate entity and announced their formation and launching of the “Libyan Oil Company” to supervise oil production for all of Libya, and their creation of the “Central Bank of Benghazi” as a monetary authority. The French government instantaneously recognized these new business entities formed by “the rebels” even though it was still publicly wondering who the rebel leaders were. CIA √
    7. CIA history in Libya. The CIA has a LONG documented history of attempts to overthrow Col. Gadhafi. At least four major CIA operations, some in partnership with the Israeli Mossad, have been conducted since 1972. Gadhafi’s use of oil revenues to organize and uplift Africa from its colonial destruction is EXACTLY the opposite of America’s foreign policy, which has always sought to strip Africa of its raw resources to enrich the multinational corporations. Col. Gadhafi has invested billions of dollars in projects to help emerging African countries become independent. He has worked to establish a “United States of Africa”—an effort to unite Africa to finally overcome the damage caused by centuries of European colonialism. It was Gadhafi who drove the African Union’s efforts toward a single African Parliament, a single currency, and a single army. The CIA has no other function than to stop this kind of Black unity and progress. CIA √
    8. Libyan invasion planned prior to 9/11. In a 2007 filmed interview, 4-star United States Army Gen. Wesley Clark discussed a Pentagon memo under Donald Rumsfeld that, in his words, “describes how we’re going to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran.” CIA √
    9. The U.S. companies in Libya are invisible. Many U.S. corporations that have been, are now, and will continue to do business in Libya are UNDER NO PRESSURE to leave or “give back” their profits, or alter their business activity with Gadhafi’s so-called “murderous regime.” Curiously, they have achieved a status different from that of The Hon. Min. Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam, which also had a business relationship with Libya—but for comparatively infinitesimal sums. The U.S. companies in Libya whose Libyan business arrangements have yet to be questioned are many, and include:

    In reality, the CIA works for the multinational corporations to tenaciously protect their world interests. CIA √
    10. Rape is charged. A distraught, English-speaking, Arab woman fortuitously finds her way from days of gang rape by Gadhafi’s soldiers into the only hotel in Tripoli where foreign journalists are encamped (apparently dropped off by her tormentors) where she reports of her ordeal to the gathered media who immediately, unquestioningly, broadcast the brutal crime to the world as proven fact. She claimed that she was detained at a checkpoint, tied up, abused, then led away to be gang raped—all whilst her assailants were defending Tripoli against a Western bombing campaign. “They defecated and urinated on me and tied me up,” she said, her face streaming with tears. “They violated my honor, look at what the Gadhafi militiamen did to me.”
    Everybody who heard this woman’s claims—except 100 percent of the Western media—immediately remembered October 1990, when a sobbing 15-year-old Kuwaiti girl gave unsworn testimony in a Congressional hearing chaired by Zionist congressman Thomas Lantos in which she described what she saw in a Kuwaiti hospital with her own eyes: “While I was there, I saw the Iraqi soldiers come into the hospital with guns, and go into the room where … babies were in incubators. They took the babies out of the incubators, took the incubators, and left the babies on the cold floor to die.”
    The girl was actually the daughter of a Kuwaiti ambassador, and had been coached by the public relations firm Hill and Knowlton to give false testimony. Three months passed between the hearing and the start of the first Gulf War during which the fabricated incubator story was repeated over and over again by seven U.S. senators and ten times by President G.H.W. Bush himself. It was recited as fact in congressional testimony, on TV and radio talk shows like Nightline, and at the UN Security Council. It is cited as the single most persuasive reason that the American public backed the first Iraq War. None of those involved with the hoax have ever faced legal reprisals. CIA √
    The number ten is arbitrary, and does not represent the full extent of possibly the most brazen CIA overthrow attempt in their long and murderous history. That which drives the entire Western industrial infrastructure—petroleum oil—is the only thing on the minds of the charlatan leaders of the West, and the world watches in horrified awe as each blunder they make is exposed to the light in almost real time. The poor Libyan people and their revolutionary African champion Muammar Gadhafi are under severe assault by the very same people who only yesterday assured him he was their partner and friend. It is a 6,000-year-old history of tricks and deceptions that The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad taught us about, and it has now run its course and is bringing a well-deserved demise to Western rule.

    3. Die “Rebellen” sind Al-Qaida. Als Oberst Gaddafi zunächst behauptete, dass die Rebellen Mitglieder der Al-Qaida waren, glaubte ihm niemand.     4. Die “Führer” der Rebellen sind CIA-Agenten. Der “Rebellen” Führer, ein Mann namens Khalifa Hifter, verließ der libysche Regierung und gründete seine eigene Miliz, finanziert von der CIA. Anschließend verbrachte er zwei Jahrzehnte seines Lebens nur wenige Minuten vom CIA-Hauptquartier in Langley, Virginia, entfernt, nach Rep. Dennis Kucinich, ohne ersichtlichen Einnahmequelle.     5. Die libysche Aufstand ist nicht “spontan”. Der Vorfall, der angeblich den libyschen “Rebellion” angespornt hat, war die Festnahme eines Anwaltes der Aktivisten am 15. Februar 2011. Dies entzündete eine Welle von Protesten, die überschwappte auf Internet und die anderen Medien. Aber es entstanden eine ungewöhnlich große Zahl von YouTube-Videos und Twitter-Nachrichten, die verdächtig ähnlich sind und ein Produkt des jüngst aufgedeckten Projekts des Pentagons zu sein scheinen, eine Software zu entwickeln, die es erlaubt, heimlich Social Media Websites zu manipulieren, um Einfluss zu nehmen auf Internet-Gespräche und so Propaganda zu verbreiten. Diese verdächtigen “freien Libyen” Seiten beanspruchen einheimisch zu sein, aber auf YouTube und die anderen Social Media Websites kann nicht durch Internet-Nutzer in Libyen zugegriffen werden. Die “Revolution” Webseiten sind alle in englischer Sprache, obwohl die Sprache in Libyen Arabisch ist, Englisch selten gesprochen wird und nur in den großen Städten. Trotz ihres zweifelhaften Ursprungs, haben professionelle Medienkonzerne wie CNN, BBC, NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox News und Al Jazeera diese anonym und unbestätigten Video Kommentare als legitim Nachrichtenquellen verstärkt.
    Und einige der “spontanen” Websites sind eindeutig betrügerisch. Eine, das sich “libysche revolutionäre ZENTRALE” nennt (http://www.feb17.info/) wurde am 14. Februar, einen Tag vor dem ursprünglichen Protest; erstellt. Und die Website ist in Ohio als Non-Profit-Organisation mit einer 501c3 steuerfrei ID-Nummer registriert! CIA √
    6a. Weiße sind sehnsüchtig nach libyschen Öl. Amerika und Europa sind abhängig von der Art des Öls, die nur in Libyen zu finden ist.     Es ist eine sehr hohe Qualität “süß” Öl mit niedrigem Schwefelgehalt. Europas Raffinerien können andere Arten von Öl mit hohem Schwefelgehalt nicht verarbeiten. Also wenn Gaddafi vor kurzem vorgeschlagen hat, er könne bessere Kunden finden für libysche Öl in Indien, China und Russland, hat es Europa nach einem sofortigen libyschen “Aufstand” gedrängt. CIA √
    6b. Neue Öl-Infrastruktur bereits vorhanden. Nur wenige Tage nach den “spontanen” Demonstrationen der “Rebellen”, die meist zu sehen waren in körnigen Handy Videos, Slogans skandierend und Fahnen winkend, hatten sie sich in einer anspruchsvollen juristischen Person organisiert mit Ankündigung der Bildung und des Starts der “libyschen Ölgesellschaft” mit Oberaufsicht über die Ölproduktion von ganz Libyen, und der Schaffung der “Central Bank of Benghazi” als Währungsbehörde.
    Die Französische Regierung erkannte sofort diese neue Geschäftseinheiten der “Rebellen” an, obwohl es noch immer öffentlich fragwürdig war, wer die Rebellenführer seien. CIA √
    7. CIA Geschichte in Libyen. Die CIA hat eine lange dokumentierte Geschichte der Versuche, Col. Gaddafi stürzen. Mindestens vier große CIA-Operationen, zum Teil in Zusammenarbeit mit dem israelischen Mossad, wurden seit 1972 durchgeführt. Gaddafis Verwendung der Erdöleinnahmen, um Afrika zu organisieren und zu erheben aus seiner kolonialen Zerstörung ist genau das Gegenteil der amerikanischen Außenpolitik, die immer versucht hat, Afrika von seiner Rohstoff-Ressourcen zu entblösen und die multinationalen Konzerne zu bereichern. Col. Gaddafi hat Milliarden von Dollar in Projekte investiert, um den aufstrebenden afrikanischen Ländern zu helfen, unabhängig zu werden. Er hat daran gearbeitet, eine “Vereinigten Staaten von Afrika” zu etablieren, ein Bemühen Afrika zu vereinen, um letztendlich den Schaden zu überwinden, der durch Jahrhunderte der europäischen Kolonialismus verursacht wurde. Sie behauptete, dass sie an einem Kontrollpunkt festgenommen worden war, gefesselt, missbraucht und dann abgeführt wurde zu einer Massenvergewaltigung, alles während ihre Angreifer Tripolis verteidigten gegen einen der westlichen Bombenangriffe. “Sie koteten und urinierten auf mich und fesselten mich”, sagte sie, ihr Gesicht mit Tränen. “Sie verletzten meine Ehre, schauen sie, was die Milizsoldaten Gaddafi mir angetan haben.”

Sie nahmen die Babys aus den Brutkästen, nahmen die Brutkästen und ließen die Babys auf dem kalten Boden sterben. ”
    Das Mädchen, welches eigentlich die Tochter eines kuwaitischen Botschafters war und war von der PR-Firma Hill and Knowlton trainiert worden, um falsches Zeugnis geben. Drei Monate vergingen zwischen der Anhörung und dem Beginn des ersten Golfkrieges, in welchen die erfundene Inkubator-Geschichte immer wieder vor sieben US-Senatoren und zehn Mal bei Präsident GHW Bush selbst wiederholt wurde. Es war, als Tatsache vorgetragen vor dem Kongress, im Fernsehen und Radio-Talkshows wie Nightline, und im UN-Sicherheitsrat.     The corporate mainstream media has just caught up to the reality of the situation in Libya that we have been reporting for weeks. Before any no fly zones, NATO involvement or UN resolutions, US and British intelligence and special forces were on the ground inside Libya, coordinating the uprising against Gaddafi and waging a covert war. Last night’s revelation that Obama signed a secret presidential finding weeks ago authorizing the CIA to supply weapons and assistance to Libyan rebels, is just the tip of the iceberg. As we reported on March 1st, a full month ago, US special forces had already arrived in Libya to train anti-Gaddafi rebels in preparation for a western-backed coup d’état in the oil-rich nation. British and French “defense advisors” also arrived at the same time to set up training bases in the rebel-controlled eastern region of the country. According to a report that appeared in the Pakistan Observer, hundreds of special forces personnel from the US, Britain and France arrived on February 23 and 24 in “American and French warships and small naval boats off Libyan ports of Benghazi and Tobruk.”
    Reports of hundreds of British MI6 officers working with the SAS were also roundly ignored by the US corporate media, as it instead attempted to sell the idea that a people’s uprising was taking place, akin to that of Tunisia and Egypt. When the time came to amplify the war, SAS “smash squads” had already been working on the ground marking out the targets out for US and British jets to drop bombs on. The notion that this globalist coalition was waiting for the UN to sanction their activity is ludicrous. The UN security council is nothing more than a glorified PR firm for the Western military industrial complex, which is beholden to no regulatory or body or governmental organisation. It can be no more evident that this is the case than in the fact that the actions of the globalist coalition in directly targeting Gaddafi, seeking regime change and arming opposition fighters completely contravenes the UN’s pointless and powerless resolution. The fact that the same UN is clearly regarded in higher esteem than the US Congress or the British Parliament, speaks volumes about our “democratic” systems of government. It is also farcical to suggest that there is now some form of “debate” raging in Washington over whether or not to arm the rebels, who as we have extensively highlighted are hard line fundamentalists, some of whom have actively engaged in fighting with US and British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
    The US has been arming the rebels for weeks, if not months, via arms shipped through Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Since late February, Libyan officials have reported witnessing special forces setting up training centres in and around Cyrinacia to equip and bolster local militias. The CIA and special forces are now training “former” members of al Qaeda as well as new recruits in the use of the latest hi-tech weaponry. The newly appointed commander of rebel forces is a known CIA operative. Yet still your nightly news programming expects you to believe that your government is contemplating whether or not it will aid the fighters in any way. While our castrated media reported that “protesters” were rising up in Libya against the government, in reality an army of Western spies and elite soldiers were amassing a battle force to take over the entire country. Is it really any wonder that the vehemently nationalist dictator Gaddafi mobilized his military in response to this? The fact that the establishment media, particularly the BBC, which has aggressively pushed the “humanitarian” hoax in its rapacious cheerleading effort for the conquest, is parroting the narrative that this is a just war, when in reality it is about helping al-Qaeda terrorists to carry through a coup d’état, is the ultimate hypocrisy. It’s a hypocrisy made more revolting by the fact that liberals who so vehemently opposed the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq are now willing to offer their enthusiastic backing for military attacks having bought the sickening lie that the likes of the United States, which kills scores of innocent people every week with predator drone strikes, has now suddenly developed a conscience for human suffering.
    Only a total moron and a complete fool could still believe that this action constitutes some kind of humanitarian mission for the good of the Libyan people. Events are being played out exactly as we predicted back in November 2008, before Obama even took office. As we have warned, the wave of revolutions spreading like wildfire across the Middle East and North Africa have been hijacked by globalist interests in the name of re-shaping the region for the administrative convenience of the new world order. This war in Libya was planned a long long time ago. Nobel peace prize winner Obama is now dutifully following the orders doled out to him by the same group of fascist neocon kingpins that were behind the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Everything you see played out in Washington is merely a public sideshow distraction. Make no mistake, there is a full scale covert war of aggression is being played out inside Libya, whether it is sanctioned by Congress, the UN or the Justice department is simply irrelevant to those running the operation. This is how your government operates. Without any jurisdiction and beyond any domestic or international laws. At the same time your mainstream media cooks up and force feeds you Punch and Judy bullshit, expecting you to swallow it down and ask for more.

    Mussa Kussa, the Libyan foreign minister who flew to Britain Wednesday and said he was defecting from the Tripoli regime, is described as a “master of international terrorism” and the man responsible for exporting Muammar Gaddafi’s revolution. Kussa (whose name is also rendered Musa Kusa or Moussa Koussa) was Libya’s ambassador to London in 1980, but in June of that year the government expelled him after he publicly approved the sentence of a Libyan People’s Revolutionary court to kill two unidentified Libyan exiles in Britain. At the time the regime was engaged in a campaign against exiled opponents, at least two of whom had been murdered in London alone.
    (Coincidentally, news of reportedly defecting Kussa’s arrival in Britain came on the same day that the British government said it was expelling five Libyan diplomats loyal to Gaddafi, on the grounds they could pose a threat to national security.)
    Before he was appointed foreign minister in 2009, Kussa served as head of Gaddafi’s intelligence agency for 15 years, and he reportedly played a key role in negotiating an end to Libya’s weapons of mass destruction programs in 2003. Back in the 1980s, Kussa was reportedly involved in shadowy intelligence-security work. In his 1992 book Target America and the West, U.S. terror researcher Yossef Bodansky wrote that Kussa headed a project launched in 1986 to escalate terrorism in Western Europe and the United States.

    Senior al-Qaida leaders have welcomed the uprisings in the Arab world in their first comprehensive statement on recent events, published in an internet magazine earlier this week. Anwar al-Awlaki – the radical preacher who grew up in America but is now a fugitive in Yemen – used a lengthy article in an English-language magazine called Inspire to explain why the revolts sweeping the Middle East were not a setback for al-Qaida. “Our mujahideen brothers in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and the rest of the Muslim world will get a chance to breathe again after three decades of suffocation,” Awlaki wrote in an article entitled The Tsunami of Change. The magazine also featured translated excerpts of earlier statements by senior figures in al-Qaida, such as deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, which had previously only been posted in obscure extremist forums.

    It’s been more than ten days since NATO entered Libya yet there is still no clear understanding on who the rebels are, what the endgame is or what will happen next. Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich argued the war itself is not only unconstitutional, but is making Libya worse off. “What we’re doing here is enlarging a humanitarian crisis with more people becoming refugees, with more civilians put at risk of injury or death due to the bombing,” he said.

    The rebels in Libya are in the middle of a life or death civil war and Moammar Gadhafi is still in power and yet somehow the Libyan rebels have had enough time to establish a new Central Bank of Libya and form a new national oil company. Perhaps when this conflict is over those rebels can become time management consultants. They sure do get a lot done. What a skilled bunch of rebels – they can fight a war during the day and draw up a new central bank and a new national oil company at night without any outside help whatsoever.

    Washington DC, March 24, 2011 ‘ The current military attack on Libya has been motivated by UN Security Council resolution 1973 with the need to protect civilians. Statements by President Obama, British Prime Minister Cameron, French President Sarkozy, and other leaders have stressed the humanitarian nature of the intervention, which is said to aim at preventing a massacre of pro-democracy forces and human rights advocates by the Qaddafi regime.
    But at the same time, many commentators have voiced anxiety because of the mystery which surrounds the anti-Qaddafi transitional government which emerged at the beginning of March in the city of Benghazi, located in the Cyrenaica district of north-eastern Libya. This government has already been recognized by France and Portugal as the sole legitimate representative of the Libyan people. The rebel council seems to be composed of just over 30 delegates, many of whom are enveloped in obscurity. In addition, the names of more than a dozen members of the rebel council are being kept secret, allegedly to protect them from the vengeance of Qaddafi. But there may be other reasons for the anonymity of these figures. Despite much uncertainty, the United Nations and its several key NATO countries, including the United States, have rushed forward to assist the armed forces of this rebel regime with air strikes, leading to the loss of one or two coalition aircraft and the prospect of heavier losses to come, especially if there should be an invasion. It is high time that American and European publics learned something more about this rebel regime which is supposed to represent a democratic and humanitarian alternative to Gaddafi.
    The rebels are clearly not civilians, but an armed force. What kind of an armed force?
    Since many of the rebel leaders are so difficult to research from afar, and since a sociological profile of the rebels cannot be done on the ground in the midst of warfare, perhaps the typical methods of social history can be called on for help. Is there a way for us to gain deeper insight into the climate of opinion which prevails in such northeastern Libyan cities as Benghazi, Tobruk, and Darnah, the main population centers of the rebellion?
    It turns out that there is, in the form of a December 2007 West Point study examining the background of foreign guerrilla fighters ‘ jihadis or mujahedin, including suicide bombers ‘ crossing the Syrian border into Iraq during the 2006-2007 timeframe, under the auspices of the international terrorist organization Al Qaeda. This study is based on a mass of about 600 Al Qaeda personnel files which were captured by US forces in the fall of 2007, and analyzed at West Point using a methodology which we will discuss after having presented the main findings. The resulting study1 permits us to make important findings about the mentality and belief structures of the northeastern Libyan population that is furnishing the basis for the rebellion, permitting important conclusions about the political nature of the anti-Qaddafi revolt in these areas.
    Darnah, northeast Libya: World Capital of Jihadis
    The most striking finding which emerges from the West Point study is that the corridor which goes from Benghazi to Tobruk, passing through the city of Darnah (also transliterated as Derna) them represents one of the greatest concentrations of jihadi terrorists to be found anywhere in the world, and by some measures can be regarded as the leading source of suicide bombers anywhere on the planet. Darnah, with one terrorist fighter sent into Iraq to kill Americans for every 1,000 to 1,500 persons of population, emerges as suicide bomber heaven, easily surpassing the closest competitor, which was Riyad, Saudi Arabia.
    According to West Point authors Joseph Felter and Brian Fishman, Saudi Arabia took first place as regards absolute numbers of jihadis sent to combat the United States and other coalition members in Iraq during the time frame in question. Libya, a country less than one fourth as populous, took second place. Saudi Arabia sent 41% of the fighters. According to Felter and Fishman, ‘Libya was the next most common country of origin, with 18.8% (112) of the fighters listing their nationality stating they hailed from Libya.’ Other much larger countries were far behind: ‘Syria, Yemen, and Algeria were the next most common origin countries with 8.2% (49), 8.1% (48), and 7.2% (43), respectively. Moroccans accounted for 6.1% (36) of the records and Jordanians 1.9% (11).’2
    This means that almost one fifth of the foreign fighters entering Iraq across the Syrian border came from Libya, a country of just over 6 million people. A higher proportion of Libyans were interested in fighting in Iraq than any other country contributing mujahedin. Felter and Fishman point out: ‘Almost 19 percent of the fighters in the Sinjar Records came from Libya alone. Furthermore, Libya contributed far more fighters per capita than any other nationality in the Sinjar Records, including Saudi Arabia.’ (See the chart from the West Point report, page 9)3
    But since the Al Qaeda personnel files contain the residence or hometown of the foreign fighters in question, we can determine that the desire to travel to Iraq to kill Americans was not evenly distributed across Libya, but was highly concentrated precisely in those areas around Benghazi which are today the epicenters of the revolt against Colonel Gaddafi which the US, Britain, France, and others are so eagerly supporting.
    As Daya Gamage of the Asia Tribune comments in a recent article on the West Point study, ”alarmingly for Western policymakers, most of the fighters came from eastern Libya, the center of the current uprising against Muammar el-Qaddafi. The eastern Libyan city of Darnah sent more fighters to Iraq than any other single city or town, according to the West Point report. It noted that 52 militants came to Iraq from Darnah, a city of just 80,000 people (the second-largest source of fighters was Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which has a population of more than 4 million). Benghazi, the capital of Libya’s provisional government declared by the anti-Qaddafi rebels, sent in 21 fighters, again a disproportionate number of the whole.’4 Obscure Darnah edged out metropolitan Riyadh by 52 fighters to 51. Qaddafi’s stronghold of Tripoli, by contrast, barely shows up in the statistics at all. (See chart from West Point report, page 12)
    What explains this extraordinary concentration of anti-American fighters in Benghazi and Darnah? The answer seems related to extremist schools of theology and politics which flourished in these areas. As the West Point report notes: ‘Both Darnah and Benghazi have long been associated with Islamic militancy in Libya.’ These areas are in theological and tribal conflict with the central government of Colonel Gaddafi, in addition to being politically opposed to him. Whether such a theological conflict is worth the deaths of still more American and European soldiers is a question which needs urgently to be answered.
    Felter and Fishman remark that ‘The vast majority of Libyan fighters that included their hometown in the Sinjar Records resided in the country’s northeast, particularly the coastal cities of Darnah 60.2% (52) and Benghazi 23.9% (21). Both Darnah and Benghazi have long been associated with Islamic militancy in Libya, in particular for an uprising by Islamist organizations in the mid-1990s. The Libyan government blamed the uprising on ‘infiltrators from the Sudan and Egypt’ and one group’the Libyan Fighting Group (jama-ah al-libiyah al-muqatilah)’claimed to have Afghan veterans in its ranks. The Libyan uprisings became extraordinarily violent.’5
    Northeastern Libya: Highest Density of Suicide Bombers
    Another remarkable feature of the Libyan contribution to the war against US forces inside Iraq is the marked propensity of the northeastern Libyans to choose the role of suicide bomber as their preferred method of struggle. As the West Point study states, ‘Of the 112 Libyans in the Records, 54.4% (61) listed their ‘work.’ Fully 85.2% (51) of these Libyan fighters listed ‘suicide bomber’ as their work in Iraq.’6 This means that the northeastern Libyans were far more apt to choose the role of suicide bomber than those from any other country: ‘Libyan fighters were much more likely than other nationalities to be listed as suicide bombers (85% for Libyans, 56% for all others).’7
    The anti-Qaddafi Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) Merges with al Qaeda, 2007
    The specific institutional basis for the recruitment of guerrilla fighters in northeastern Libya is associated with an organization which previously called itself the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG). During the course of 2007, the LIFG declared itself an official subsidiary of al Qaeda, later assuming the name of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). As a result of this 2007 merger, an increased number of guerrilla fighters arrived in Iraq from Libya. According to Felter and Fishman, ‘The apparent surge in Libyan recruits traveling to Iraq may be linked the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group’s (LIFG) increasingly cooperative relationship with al-Qaeda, which culminated in the LIFG officially joining al-Qaeda on November 3, 2007.’8 This merger is confirmed by other sources: A 2008 statement attributed to Ayman al-Zawahiri claimed that the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group has joined al-Qaeda.9
    Terrorist ‘Emir’ Touts Key Role of Benghazi, Darnah in al Qaeda
    The West Point study makes clear that the main bulwarks of the LIFG and of the later AQIM were the twin cities of Benghazi and Darnah. This is documented in a statement by Abu Layth al-Libi, the self-styled ‘Emir’ of the LIFG, who later became a top official of al Qaeda. At the time of the 2007 merger, ‘Abu Layth al-Libi, LIFG’s Emir, reinforced Benghazi and Darnah’s importance to Libyan jihadis in his announcement that LIFG had joined al-Qa’ida, saying: ‘It is with the grace of God that we were hoisting the banner of jihad against this apostate regime under the leadership of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, which sacrificed the elite of its sons and commanders in combating this regime whose blood was spilled on the mountains of Darnah, the streets of Benghazi, the outskirts of Tripoli, the desert of Sabha, and the sands of the beach.”10
    This 2007 merger meant that the Libyan recruits for Al Qaeda became an increasingly important part of the activity of this organization as a whole, shifting the center of gravity to some degree away from the Saudis and Egyptians who had previously been most conspicuous. As Felter and Fishman comment, ‘Libyan factions (primarily the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group) are increasingly important in al-Qa’ida. The Sinjar Records offer some evidence that Libyans began surging into Iraq in larger numbers beginning in May 2007. Most of the Libyan recruits came from cities in northeast Libya, an area long known for jihadi-linked militancy.’11
    The December 2007 West Point study concludes by formulating some policy options for the United States government. One approach, the authors suggest, would be for the United States to cooperate with existing Arab governments against the terrorists. As Felter and Fishman write, ‘The Syrian and Libyan governments share the United States’ concerns about violent salafi-jihadi ideology and the violence perpetrated by its adherents. These governments, like others in the Middle East, fear violence inside their borders and would much rather radical elements go to Iraq rather than cause unrest at home. U.S. and Coalition efforts to stem the flow of fighters into Iraq will be enhanced if they address the entire logistical chain that supports the movement of these individuals’beginning in their home countries ‘ rather than just their Syrian entry points. The U.S. may be able to increase cooperation from governments to stem the flow of fighters into Iraq by addressing their concerns about domestic jihadi violence.’12 Given the course of subsequent events, we are on firm ground in concluding that this option was not the one selected, neither in the closing years of the Bush administration nor during the first half of the Obama administration.
    The West Point study also offers another, more sinister perspective. Felter and Fishman hint that it might be possible to use the former LIFG components of Al Qaeda against the government of Colonel Qaddafi in Libya, in essence creating a de facto alliance between the United States and a segment of the terrorist organization. The West Point report notes: ‘The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group’s unification with al-Qa’ida and its apparent decision to prioritize providing logistical support to the Islamic State of Iraq is likely controversial within the organization. It is likely that some LIFG factions still want to prioritize the fight against the Libyan regime, rather than the fight in Iraq. It may be possible to exacerbate schisms within LIFG, and between LIFG’s leaders and al-Qa’ida’s traditional Egyptian and Saudi power-base.’13 This suggests the US policy we see today, that of allying with the obscurantist and reactionary al Qaeda fanatics in Libya against the Nasserist modernizer Qaddafi.
    Arming the Rebels: The Experience of Afghanistan
    Looking back at the tragic experience of US efforts to incite the population of Afghanistan against the Soviet occupation in the years after 1979, it should be clear that the policy of the Reagan White House to arm the Afghan mujahedin with Stinger missiles and other modern weapons turned out to be highly destructive for the United States. As current Defense Secretary Robert Gates comes close to admitting in his memoirs, Al Qaeda was created during those years by the United States as a form of Arab Legion against the Soviet presence, with long-term results which have been highly lamented.
    Today, it is clear that the United States is providing modern weapons for the Libyan rebels through Saudi Arabia and across the Egyptian border with the active assistance of the Egyptian army and of the newly installed pro-US Egyptian military junta.14 This is a direct violation of UN Security Council resolution 1973, which calls for a complete arms embargo on Libya. The assumption is that these weapons will be used against Gaddafi in the coming weeks. But, given the violently anti-American nature of the population of northeast Libya that is now being armed, there is no certainty that these weapons will not be soon turned against those who have provided them.
    A broader problem is represented by the conduct of the future Libyan government dominated by the current rebel council with its large current majority of northeastern Islamists, or of a similar government of a future Cyrenaica rump state. To the extent that such regimes will have access to oil revenues, obvious problems of international security are posed. Gamage wonders: ‘If the rebellion succeeds in toppling the Qaddafi regime it will have direct access to the tens of billions of dollars that Qaddafi is believed to have squirreled away in overseas accounts during his four-decade rule.’15 Given the northeast Libyan mentality, we can imagine what such revenues might be used for.
    What is al Qaeda and Why the CIA Has Used It
    Al Qaeda is not a centralized organization, but rather a gaggle or congeries of fanatics, dupes, psychotics, misfits, double agents, provocateurs, mercenaries, and other elements. As noted, Al Qaeda was founded by the United States and the British during the struggle against the Soviets in Afghanistan. Many of its leaders, such as the reputed second-in-command Ayman Zawahiri and the current rising star Anwar Awlaki, are evidently double agents of MI-6 and/or the CIA. The basic belief structure of Al Qaeda is that all existing Arab and Moslem governments are illegitimate and should be destroyed, because they do not represent the caliphate which Al Qaeda asserts is described by the Koran. This means that the Al Qaeda ideology offers a ready and easy way for the Anglo-American secret intelligence agencies to attack and destabilize existing Arab and Muslim governments as part of the ceaseless need of imperialism and colonialism to loot and attack the developing nations. This is precisely what is happening in Libya today.
    Al Qaeda emerged from the cultural and political milieu of the Moslem Brotherhood or Ikhwan, itself a creation of British intelligence in Egypt in the late 1920s. The US and the British used the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood to oppose the successful anti-imperialist policies of Egyptian President Nasser, who scored immense victories for his country by nationalizing the Suez Canal and building the Aswan High Dam, without which modern Egypt would be simply unthinkable. The Muslim brotherhood provided an active and capable fifth column of foreign agents against Nasser, in the same way that the official website of Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb is trumpeting its support for the rebellion against Colonel Qaddafi.
    I have discussed the nature of Al Qaeda at some length in my recent book entitled 9/11 Synthetic Terrorism: Made in USA, and that analysis cannot be repeated here. It is enough to say that we do not need to believe in all the fantastic mythology which the United States government has spun around the name of Al Qaeda in order to recognize the basic fact that militants or patsies who spontaneously join al Qaeda are often sincerely motivated by a deep hatred of the United States and a burning desire to kill Americans, as well as Europeans. The Bush administration policy used the alleged presence of Al Qaeda as a pretext for direct military attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq. The Obama administration is now doing something different, intervening on the side of a rebellion in which Al Qaeda and its co-thinkers are heavily represented while attacking the secular authoritarian government of Colonel Gaddafi. Both of these policies are bankrupt and must be abandoned.
    Rebel Leaders Jalil and Younis, Plus Most of Rebel Council are Members of the al Qaeda-linked Harabi Tribe
    The result of the present inquiry is that the Libyan branch of Al Qaeda represents a continuum with the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group centered in Darnah and Benghazi. The ethnic base of the Libyan Islamic fighting group is apparently to be found in the anti-Qaddafi Harabi tribe, the tribe which makes up the vast majority of the rebel council including the two dominant rebel leaders, Abdul Fatah Younis and Mustafa Abdul Jalil. The evidence thus suggests that the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, the elite of the Harabi tribe, and the rebel council supported by Obama all overlap for all practical purposes. As the late Foreign Minister of Guyana Fred Wills, a real fighter against imperialism and neo-colonialism, taught me many years ago, political formations in developing countries (and not just there) are often a mask for ethnic and religious rivalries; so it is in Libya. The rebellion against Qaddafi is a toxic brew compounded of fanatical hatred of Qaddafi, Islamism, tribalism, and localism. From this point of view, Obama has foolishly chosen to take sides in a tribal war.
    When Hillary Clinton went to Paris to be introduced to the Libyan rebels by French President Sarkozy, she met the US-educated Libyan opposition leader Mahmoud Jibril, already known to readers of Wikileaks document dumps as a favorite of the US.16
    While Jibril might be considered presentable in Paris, the real leaders of the Libyan insurrection would appear to be Jalil and Younis, both former ministers under Qaddafi. Jalil seems to be the primus inter pares, at least for the moment: ‘Mustafa Abdul Jalil or Abdul-Jalil (Arabic: مصطفى عبد الجليل, also transcribed Abdul-Jelil, Abd-al-Jalil, Abdel-Jalil or Abdeljalil; and frequently but erroneously as Abud Al Jeleil) (born 1952) is a Libyan politician. He was the Minister of Justice (unofficially, the Secretary of the General People’s Committee) under Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi’. Abdul Jalil has been identified as the Chairman of the National Transitional Council based in Benghazi’ although this position is contested by others in the uprising due to his past connections to Gaddafi’s regime.’17
    As for Younis, he has been closely associated with Qaddafi since the 1968-9 seizure of power: ‘Abdul Fatah Younis (Arabic: عبد الفتاح يونس) is a senior military officer in Libya. He held the rank of General and the post of Minister of Interior, but resigned on 22 February 2011′.’18
    What should concern us most is that both Jalil and Younis come from the Haribi tribe, the dominant one in northeast Libya, and the one that overlaps with al Qaeda. According to Stratfor, the ”Harabi tribe is a historically powerful umbrella tribe in eastern Libya that saw their influence wane under Col. Gadhafi. The Libyan leader confiscated swaths of tribal members’ land and redistributed it to weaker and more loyal tribes’. Many of the leaders now emerging in eastern Libya hail from the Harabi tribe, including the head of the provisional government set up in Benghazi, Abdel Mustafa Jalil, and Abdel Fatah Younis, who assumed a key leadership role over the defected military ranks early in the uprising.’19 This is like a presidential ticket where both candidates are from the same state, except that Libya’s ferocious tribal rivalries make the problem infinitely worse.
    The Rebel Council: Half the Names Are Kept Secret; Why?
    This picture of a narrow, sectarian tribal and regional base does not improve when we look at the rebel council as a whole. According to one recent version, the rebel council is ‘chaired by the well-spoken former justice minister for Libya, Mustafa Abdul Jalil, [and] consists of 31 members, ostensibly representatives from across Libya, of whom many cannot be named for ‘security reasons”. ‘The key players on the council, at least those who we know about, all hail from the north-eastern Harabi confederation of tribes. These tribes have strong affiliations with Benghazi that date back to before the 1969 revolution which brought Gaddafi to power.’20 Other accounts agree about the number of representatives: ‘The council has 31 members; the identities of several members has not been made public to protect their own safety.’21 Given what we know about the extraordinary density of LIFG and all Qaeda fanatics in northeast Libya, we are authorized to wonder as to whether so many members of the council are being kept secret in order to protect them from Qaddafi, or whether the goal is to prevent them from being recognized in the west as al Qaeda terrorists or sympathizers. The latter seems to be a more accurate summary of the real state of affairs.

    Update News Libya: Status for Saif al Islam Gaddafi: Acquitted

    (2) [The sword of Islam] Saif al-Islam appeared in front of Peoples court in Zentan, he was acquitted of all charges from murder to incitement of violence, he was immediately ordered released from custody by the tribal judges, additional charges are unknown if ever any does exist, he was switched from a prison villa to a hotel room in Zentan. Saif Al Islam was playing soccer at stadium in Zentan with his armed guards.
